My name is Nevaeh Brown — I’m 21 years old, a lifelong Brooklyn resident, and a passionate youth advocate from Bushwick. I’m reaching out with deep respect and hope for support on a special grassroots event taking place this fall:
The Sahid Green Day Run
Date: Saturday, September 2025
Audience: Youth ages 15–17
This one-day youth basketball tournament is being held in loving memory of my childhood best friend, Amir Sahid Green, whose life and light were taken too soon due to gun violence. The playground we’re using isn’t just any park — it’s where we went to school from ages 7–12. It’s where this dream was born.
The Day Run will be a day of healing, action, and connection, bringing teens together through sport, mentorship, and safe community space.
Why I’m Doing This
This event is the first step toward launching a nonprofit I’m building called The Sahid Green Community Center (TSGCC) — a future safe haven where Brooklyn teens and families can access support, healing, and inspiration. I’ve worked at the ACS Children’s Center and seen firsthand what so many youth face — and how powerful it is when they’re simply given a space to belong.
While we’re not yet a 501(c)(3), this event serves as a grassroots fundraiser and community kickoff for that vision.
I’m kindly requesting your support in any of the following ways:
In-kind donations or resources (e.g., water, supplies, setup assistance)
A small donation, funds, or discretionary support
This is more than a basketball event — it’s a youth-led call for unity, healing, and opportunity in Bushwick.
Thank you for your time,
Warm regards,
Nevaeh Brown
