Hello!! My name is Sadie Horton, I'm a freshly turned 18 year old(started this campaign on my birthday!) trying to raise money to surprise my family. We were majorly screwed over almost four years ago in buying what we thought was our dream home to settle down in forever. Plenty of room, privacy for me and my two brothers, and an exceptional amount of land that we've been using to grow food and raise animals. But from the day we moved in, there have been problems after problems... Sewage leaks, septic overflows, pipes broken and built terribly into the ground... And that's just the first year...
We've also had faulty sighting causing walls to get soaking wet every time it rains, rotten floors, sinking steps(due to fractured beams caused by rot), ceilings falling in(my bedroom is unusable right now for that reason, so my brothers have had to share a room so that I could take one of theirs), mold in our crawlspace, and so SO much more...
On top of all of those- yes, there's MORE... -We have all had severe health issues come up since we moved in here. A lot of it looks like symptoms of mold toxicity, because we had experience living in a moldy environment in the past, and my mom is dealing with a LOT of stress-caused health problems, along with physical symptoms that make it hard for her to even walk up and down stairs... So she physically has not been able to work a job to try and help, so me and my older brother have been contributing enough to cover groceries in that time. And my dad has been working himself down to the bone in a job that is not treating him kindly. He sometimes only has Sunday off of work to recover from the week, and that's only because the store is closed on Sunday. Now my younger brother is trying to get a job, and we're all working as hard as we're able to just to afford the CHANCE to move somewhere decent.
Before you ask, YES, we got an inspector. He didn't tell us CRAP about any of this. He didn't explain anything, and by the time we realized we were able to sue, it was too late. And because of that, we've had the house foreclosed for about a month now, and are trying desperately to get the funds we need to get our family into a safe environment that is close enough to our church and our jobs, and has the space we need to be comfortable enough that hopefully, we won't ever HAVE to move again... Not until me and my brothers are all graduated, married, and ready to live on our own.
My goal for this GoFundMe is $10K, because that alone is enough for a down payment for an apartment, and there are several complexes within ten minutes of our church and jobs, and have the space to fit us all.
If I can have $10K to surprise my family with on the day I graduate with my brother, May 17th, that would be a huge HUGE surprise and a huge HUGE blessing. As of right now, the social media I'm posting this on has surpassed 1K followers, which means if everyone was able to donate just $10 each, we would reach that goal incredibly fast!!
God bless all of you supporting me as I try to help my family
-Sadie Horton
