The Right to Work Project

Mission
The Right to Work project seeks to test the law and make case law that protects every Worker’s right to bodily autonomy and right to work regardless of their medical choices. We do this for our children and their children, hoping that through litigation, Governments will be deterred from enacting draconian measures such as the Covid-19 pandemic measures Western Australians were subjected to in 2021 onwards and Employers will be empowered to reject such measures.

History
The Right to Work project began in February of 2022 (group members will know it as the DDC), when thousands of Western Australian employees were facing the agonising choice of taking an experimental vaccine or risk losing their right to work; their jobs, their homes and their ability to provide food and shelter to their families.

Many people decided the health risks and risk to a free and open society were far more precious to them than their ability to work in their chosen vocation, so they refused to participate in the vaccine experiment. Greg Hunt, former Federal Minister for Health said on 21 February 2021 "The world is engaged in the largest clinical trial, the largest global vaccination trial ever, and we will have enormous amounts of data. But what’s the message for the public? It’s safe, it’s effective, it will help protect you, but it will also help protect your mum and dad, your grandparents, your nonna, all of Australia." Refusal to participate in the 'largest global vaccination trial ever' resulted in sacking. All lost their jobs. Highly skilled, experienced senior Nurses became cleaners. Teachers, Education Assistants and Chaplains were unable to support students at a time when staffing was at a crisis level. Careers were derailed, and countless other Professionals, Tradies and Workers; ready and willing to work, were denied the right to work. Many sold homes to survive and sadly some were made homeless because of their refusal to receive an experimental Covid-19 vaccine.

Lyn and Ellissa, under the leadership and supervision of a brave and courageous Lawyer, began drafting Disability Discrimination Complaints that were lodged in the Australian Human Rights Commission from May of 2022 all the way through our last lodgement in February of 2023. In total over 300 Disability Discrimination Complaints have been lodged from our group consisting of Police, Nurses, Miners, Fire Fighters, Educators, Chaplains, Allied Health Care workers, Corrections Officers, Private Company employees from all sorts of industries and Public Servants from various sectors.
