Nate and Rachel met in 2010.. They were a young couple with a love that lit up the room. On their first dates, they shared daydreams of travel, ministry, homeownership and children. Early on, God placed it on both of their hearts to adopt…but we will get to that part of the story in a bit.
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months and eventually Nate found the courage ask that pretty little lady to be his wife. They began realizing many of their dreams from days past. Nate carried on with drums and his pursuit of biblical theology. The southern belle focused on women’s ministry and turning a one bedroom apartment into a pleasant place to call home. It was humble and the smell of Rachel’s cooking would quickly permeate the space.
Nate and Rachel would find themselves in that apartment praying to the Lord to bring them a child. They knew that Apt 2B was too small to raise a family and a new place to call home was added to the prayer list.
The Reeds moved into a split-level beauty in Springfield, Virginia in the fall of 2015. Rachel had her dream home and Nate quickly got started on the honey-do-list. Their home was ready for a child, with a warm bed and bath, just down the hall from their room.
Finally, in April 2017, Nate and Rachel made the announcement that adoption of their child was underway. Their child is not with them yet. He or she is waiting to be picked up and to utter the words, “Mama and Daddy”. God already knows the child by name. He knows of the sweet embrace the child will soon receive from Nate and Rachel. He knows of the skinned-knees that will need to be kissed by Mama and the pep-talks before the big game, delivered by Daddy.
As Nate and Rachel go down the path to bring their child to Springfield, they need your help. They need your prayers. Prayers of encouragement, support and love. They know they need God’s strength and comfort. Please pray for them.
I know that many others will want to support them financially, as the adoption process will cost approximately $40,000. On their behalf, I decided to share this amazing opportunity to love the Reeds and be a part of this beautiful thing called ‘family’. Consider a gift and a word of love, hope and encouragement.
