The Red Sox do not care about our pediatric nurses! Last Thursday, 5/22, was supposed to be Nurse Appreciation Night, so for my office, I organized a group of almost 60 nurses, medical assistants, and their families to go to the game. But it was rained out! And the Sox rescheduled the game for the next day, which of course no one could attend because they have to take care of kids! If this had just been me and some friends, I wouldn’t be here. But it was for the nurses, so I reached out to the team to see if something could be done. Unsurprisingly, they are refusing to do anything for us. This organization, worth $4.8 billion according to Forbes, is refusing to honor our tickets (worth $1,390). I didn’t even ask for a refund. I just asked for the tickets to be honored at a future Health Care Appreciation night, of which there are 2 more planned. The nurses are disappointed; the tickets were $24-32 each, which is significant for them as many bought multiple tickets. But even worse, their kids are devastated. We definitely do not feel appreciated by the Red Sox, as their greedy behavior is leaving us feeling like we don’t matter to them. Remember, they are worth $4.8 BILLION! They can’t spare the $1,400 we paid for the discounted tickets? This isn’t appreciation; this is taking advantage of us. Just another example of the rich taking advantage of common people, all too familiar these days.
So, please help me get these nurses (and their kids!) to a game! I’m asking for $5,000, as that’s about the cost of average bleacher seats for 60 people ($80 after fees x 60). Any extra will go towards our nurses in some way (concessions at the game, or donation to a charity of their choosing). Thank you so much for reading!
