The Railway Inn Community Pub (Norton Bridge) fundraiser

YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!

Who are we?

  • We are a Community Group from Norton Bridge & the surrounding areas

  • We are raising funds to try to buy the former Railway Inn / Izaak Walton Brewhouse

  • This will be a village pub, run and owned by the community

  • It will be a pub, tea room, shop, working space and so much more!

For more information about the project please visit our website www.railwayinn.org

What’s Next?

We need you, our local community, to help us move onto our next step!

Raising £2,500 will allow us to cover our start-up costs to get the project off the ground. Your donations will help us to:

  • Complete a red book valuation on the pub, making sure the price of the property is a true reflection of its value

  • Sign up for membership of the Plunkett Foundation, who will be able to provide us with expert advice throughout the process of setting up and then running a successful community pub (for more information on what Plunkett will offer us click www.plunkett.co.uk/how-we-help/)

  • Register as a Community Benefit Society, the preferred legal structure for community initiatives recommended by the Plunkett Foundation

Once we have achieved the above fundraising target and booked a valuation, we will be ready to present pledge / share offer details.

We, The Railway Inn Steering Committee, sincerely believe that with your help this project can succeed, but obviously, we cannot guarantee it. What we can promise you is that:

  • All of our time is volunteered and the Steering Committee will not be taking any expenses from the donation fund

  • We will be fully transparent with you about every penny we spend

Please note, if for any reason this project fails, then any money that has not been spent on the above costs, will be refunded back to the donors. This will be shared proportionately amongst the donors (based on their original donation amount, minus a percentage of what has already been spent.) Donations received at this stage of the project will be towards the initial costs only, and will not be classed as investments /shares. If we raise more than £2,500 initially, any remaining funds (after the above expenditure) will be transferred to the main fundraiser as a donation.

On behalf of all the steering group involved in the project we would like to say a huge Thank You! to the community for all the support we have received so far and for any support you can give. We really hope that with your help and by us all coming together as a community, we can make the project a success!

Update January 2026

We are pleased to say that, thanks to your generous donations as well as several private donations, we have now raised enough for our registration fees and the red book survey to be carried out. We will now be holding a meeting on 14th january to give you a progress update and to discuss the pledge and share process. Now that our initial costs are out of the way, this fundraiser will continue and any donations received will go towards the purchase of the pub. Thank you for all your continuing support
