The Power of the Youth Voice

Dear GoFundMe community and friends of Earth Guardians,

 

We’re writing with a personal request close to our hearts. As you probably know, Earth Guardians is a nonprofit organization that trains and empowers youth to be effective leaders at the intersections of environmental and climate justice. We’re writing to ask you to join our network of friends and family with a generous donation via our crowdfunding campaign. Our crowdfunding goal is to raise $15K.

 

Every donation helps us gain momentum to spread the word, which gets more eyes and support for this crowdfunding campaign.

 

Earth Guardians needs your help to support this youth-led movement! With ambitious and impactful goals to have a Regional Director training in Africa by the year's end, we have doubled our operating budget and are facing a financial challenge. Far less can be done unless we get support from new sources soon. That’s why we are appealing to you for your help!

To see what kind of impact your contribution can make, I want to share with you a little more about our accomplishments in 2021 through today:

So far from 2021 to 2022:

● Sent 6 youth to COP26 to speak on panels and at rallies and events

● Provided $56k in project grants to EG global Crews grassroots work, including mass tree plantings, eco-fashion events, pipeline resistance & divestment actions, soil regeneration, food sovereignty initiatives, mutual aid, climate justice educational seminars and more

● Hosted 19 virtual educational leadership development trainings

● Hosted 3, 5-day trainings for: Speakers Bureau, Indigenous Youth & Youth Leadership

● Our public speakers spoke at 50+ major public events

● Hosted a 5 Part virtual series on Hemp as an eco- solution

● Went from a US-based Youth Council to an international Youth Council

● Started Vijana Asafo, a Youth Council in Africa

● Distributed 10 million dollars of PPE to 380 Native Tribes.

● Completed an equity assessment and shifted a predominately white adult staff of 5 to a majority

BIPOC youth-led staff of 9 with adult mentorship.

● Created a library of virtual educational resources to support crews in project planning and direct action

● Organized a huge global day of action called Choose Action Now

Earth Guardians accomplished this and so much more with our 61 active youth Crews across 6 continents. And all of this on a budget of less than $500k! In the next three months, before year-end, Earth Guardians must raise $136,000 to support:

• Round 2 of our Project Grants program–supporting global crews for projects from mass tree-planting, divestment direct actions to ocean plastic clean-ups:

• Regional Director training in Africa–ensuring that 12 EG regional leaders receive leadership training and time to develop a strategic plan:

• Crew monitoring–helps us support our global crews

• General Admin and salary costs– which supports 11 staff (9 BIPOC, 9 youth) who are running the Choose Action Now Campaign and much more
