The Phelan's Adopt

So, here’s the story of how we got to where we are:

In 2013, after we had Addison and settled into the crazy new life of parenthood, we began exploring the idea of adopting a second child. We spoke to several agencies over the course of a year or so and as we learned more about the complicated process and high cost of domestic adoption, we were pretty discouraged and decided to try for another biological child instead. It took us about a year but in 2016, we were blessed with Amelia Rynn (Millie, as we call her)! When Millie was about a year old, we once again began to feel the call to adopt. We were reluctant to seriously explore the process because, well, we hadn’t become wealthy overnight and we knew the cost would still be prohibitive.

Fast forward to today. We’re nearly six years down the road from when we first felt drawn to adoption and we’re at the point in our lives where we need to pursue this calling or allow God to close the door. The financial hurdle still exists for us but as we’ve heard time and time again, the cost associated with adoption shouldn’t be a barrier. So here we are, taking the steps in the process, hoping the Lord will meet us where we are, bring the right people alongside us and be with us through it all.

We are currently waiting to be matched with a birth mother.
