UPDATE - we're already so close, so I upped the amount so that maybe we can get a wireless kit.

Hey Y'all,

If you're reading this, you probably know who I am, but just in case....My name is Kyle Pulley, and I'm the co-owner of Headroom Studios here in Philadelphia. If you're like me you are probably feeling nearly paralyzed with all of "the stuff" that has been happening recently. Yeee-ikes. It has been hard to figure out how I can help in these times, but sometimes the universe reaches out and lets you know.

A friend of mine how is an organizer asked if I had a PA system they could borrow for an action. Apparently, sound is terrible at many rallies, protests, actions, etc. Its hard for people to hear and be heard. Even if there IS a PA, it is often contending with a noisy smelly generator.

I realized that I have the expertise, resources AND the community that could help support those who are at the front lines speaking truth to power, and demanding justice. So I am inviting you dear reader, a member of the DIY/Punk/Music Community to be a bigger part of the greater Philadelphia community, and create a shared resource.

My intention is to create a People's PA System, a resource that will be housed and maintained at Headroom, and will be available to events and organizations that advocate for human rights and justice.

I already rented a truck and picked up some speakers, and amplifiers (pictured above) that were generously donated already. I have some donated cables, microphones, and I found a Mackie Mixer on Facebook Marketplace. In total, I've spent around $250 of my own $$$, but to make this truly viable, I need some help from the community to purchase a few more things.

I still need

  • a solar generator (around $1k)
  • a good sturdy cart, so that the PA can be mobile for a march (around 400-600)
  • Speaker Stands (around $200)
  • Maybe a wireless Kit (500-700)? something i'm forgetting? Its probably a good idea to have a bit of a buffer

If anyone is interested in volunteering to help coordinate, run trainings, be a live sound person for an action, please let me know! OR if you have any of these things, and wish to donate, that would rock!

Please give whatever you can. $5, $10, $20. Anything is appreciated!

If we exceed our goal, we'll either duplicate the set up, or keep a reserve for maintenance.

Thank you!
