Our Story – The People’s Iftar
Ramadan is a time of reflection, self-discipline, and compassion. Yet, in our celebrations, we sometimes lose sight of its true purpose. We start by fasting—but by nightfall, we add an “E” and turn it into feasting. Instead of learning self-restraint, we shift our indulgence from daylight to darkness.
But fasting in Ramadan isn’t just about abstaining from food and water—it’s about controlling desires, understanding hardship, and developing gratitude. The reality is, while we break our fasts with abundance, there are those who fast involuntarily—not out of devotion, but out of necessity.
As Imam of the People, I have dedicated my life to serving the underprivileged in our community—those who are too often forgotten and overlooked. This Ramadan, through The People’s Iftar, we are bringing the true spirit of Ramadan to life.
In collaboration with MAS Dallas, Masjid Al-Islam, and the Islamic Unity Center, we are uniting our communities to ensure that Ramadan reaches those who are most in need.
Together, we will break our fasts alongside those who have no choice but to go hungry, providing hot meals through food carts and street-side distributions in Fort Worth and Dallas tent cities.
This is more than just a meal—it’s a movement. Let’s turn excess into empathy and feasting into true fasting. Join us in sharing our blessings, standing with the forgotten, and making Ramadan truly meaningful.
