Friends of Odyssey was initially asked to raise $300,000. With a pledge of $160,000 waiting and combined funds already on hand, we were only $80,000 away from saving the boat! The catch was that the pledge had a time contingency upon us raising $80,000 by Friday, August 19. THANKS for your support!

Hello! We are Friends of Odyssey and we need your help to keep Tacoma's Tall Ship afloat by supporting youth sail training in the Pacific Northwest onboard the historic Sea Scout Ship Odyssey, a rare 90-foot double-hulled wooden US Coast Guard subchapter T vessel.
Originally designed by Sparkman & Steven's in 1938 as a luxury racing yacht, Odyssey went on to serve the US Navy during WWII and well after, before finally becoming a Sea Scout Ship in 1978. (Find out more about Odyssey's history here).
The SSS Odyssey coed youth sail training program for ages 14-21 has significantly impacted local youth and youth from around the country by not only introducing over 600 teens & young adults to tall ship sailing, but by teaching leadership, responsibility, and life skills, often leading to careers in the maritime industry.
In addition, the summer program has reached over 2,000 youth and provided charters for community members throughout the Salish Sea.
However, the last couple of years have been tough on sailing, and Odyssey needs the community's help to remain afloat.
Odyssey needs a new mainmast, since her original mast had to be retired in 2021. Although the Odyssey program has found the required timber and shipwrights with the necessary skills, now they need the funds.
Funds are also required to install the mast, upcoming drydock, and to meet Odyssey's needs through 2022.
Help Odyssey sail once again, continuing to offer unique skills and experiences to youth through its tall ship sailing program for years to come with a tax-deductible donation.
From all of us volunteers at Friends of Odyssey, we thank you in advance!
