A Mother’s Urgency
My name is Vaneisha, and I am the proud mother of five incredible daughters: Naomi, Nyla, Nadia, and my twins, Nia and Nya. Today, I am reaching out to ask for your help to achieve a goal that has been four years in the making: to finally see my daughter Nyla perform on stage.
Nyla, who lives in North Carolina, has been a dancer for years, and this season, she has been cast in the main role in her annual production of The Nutcracker. This is a milestone achievement, and she has personally asked if her mom can be there.
I need to be there. I need to surprise her. I need to be in that audience.
-The Miles Between Us
Our story is one of resilience and distance. Fifteen years ago, I made the brave choice to leave an abusive relationship in North Carolina to protect myself and my children, eventually resettling in my hometown of Merced, California.
When I was heavily pregnant with my twins in 2017, a court process resulted in Nyla remaining in North Carolina. Since that painful day, there have been thousands of miles between us. My other girls and I have fiercely held onto our connection with Nyla over the distance. We last saw her perform four years ago—a long, challenging road trip we made to show our support. That was the last time we were together.
-Making This Dream Trip Possible
The time is now. Nyla is stepping into the spotlight in the most important performance of her young life, and I cannot miss it. She doesn't know I am trying to come; I want to make this a surprise she will never forget.
I am asking for your help to raise $600 to cover the flight and essential transportation costs from California to North Carolina and back.
-The Impact of Your Support
This trip is about more than just a plane ticket. It is about a mother showing up for her daughter's biggest moment after years of separation. It’s about fulfilling a promise. It’s about celebrating Nyla’s talent and resilience.
If you are unable to donate, please know that sharing this story with your network is just as powerful. Every share brings us closer to that curtain rise.
Thank you for reading our story and for helping me make my daughter's dream, and mine, come true.
With immense gratitude and hope,
Vaneisha
Mother to Naomi, Nyla, Nadia, Nia, and Nya
