For generations, Parkway Swimming Club has been more than a place to swim.

It has been the backdrop for summer memories, lifelong friendships, family traditions, and moments that have stayed with people long after the season ended.

For nearly 70 years, Parkway has been creating the kinds of memories that people carry with them for a lifetime.

Since 1956, children have learned to swim here. Families have spent entire summers here. Friends have gathered for movie nights under the stars, community dinners, holiday celebrations, luaus, polar plunges, chili cook-offs, and countless afternoons spent poolside together.

Many still remember cheering for the Parkway Dolphins swim team.

Others remember the excitement of Opening Day, the smell of barbecue in the air, the sound of laughter echoing across the pool deck, and the feeling that Parkway was more than a club—it was a second home.

Some of those children have grown up and returned years later with children and grandchildren of their own.

That is what makes Parkway special.

In a world that often feels increasingly disconnected, Parkway remains a place where neighbors become friends, families gather, and memories are made.

But places like Parkway are becoming increasingly rare.

Across California and throughout the country, many swim clubs and recreation facilities have disappeared due to rising costs, aging infrastructure, and the challenges of maintaining facilities that have served generations.

Most people never imagine it can happen to their club.

Until one day it does.

And when places like Parkway disappear, we lose more than a swimming pool.

We lose traditions, gathering places, and opportunities for future generations to create the kinds of memories that last a lifetime. We lose a piece of what makes a community feel like home.

Thanks to the dedication of members, volunteers, board members, and supporters, Parkway Swimming Club remains open today.

But survival alone is not enough.

We don’t simply want to preserve Parkway. We want to see it thrive.

To ensure Parkway continues serving families for generations to come, we must continue investing in its future, creating new opportunities for recreation, connection, and fun.

Now, we are working to write the next chapter.

Our vision is to revitalize Parkway’s recreation court area and create new opportunities for families and future generations. One exciting part of that vision includes introducing pickleball—one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in the country—while improving other recreation spaces throughout the area.

This project will help attract new members, create new opportunities for connection and recreation, and strengthen Parkway’s long-term future.
