Now it’s time for THE NEWS WHERE YOU ARE
“The News Where You Are” is a series of satirical video shorts or reels published on social media as a reminder that the truth might not be all we are led to believe.
During a four week trial period, from a standing start the pilot videos on TikTok alone reached more than 11,000 views with YouTube shorts also more than 11,000. The potential audience is huge.
This fundraiser aims to raise £2500 to help provide technology subscriptions for a further two months and create a second avatar as a roving reporter. The avatars are based on real actors who are paid a licence fee for their virtual performances.
The videos are simple parodies of Scottish television news to question media bias using hyper realistic avatar technology to create a scene TV news watchers will recognise - from when London hands over to ‘the news where you are’.
Designed to be an antidote to headlines biased against Scots Independence. They are cheeky, funny and ultimately thought provoking to expose the politicising of news.
The project aims to produce quick, topical content often following current stories in the media.
The aim is to reach a broad audience beyond the hardcore of ‘indie’ supporters - particularly targeting the younger demographic of phone scrollers where viral video reels are key. An audience which doesn’t engage with longer videos, attend meetings or read printed material.
With a presence on seven social media platforms, links can connect to other indie related sites such as Talking Up Scotland.
