The Mums Grocery Giving Circle
Donation protected
Hi there! We have started a Mum's Grocery Giving Circle to organise weekly fresh produce deliveries to a range of Womens shelters around Sydney, during this uncertain time.
This is a simple project about mums helping other mums in a time of need, because that’s what we do in the mama hood.
During this Coronavirus crisis, there are so many women in dangerous domestic violence situations, who don't have a safe home to stay in, or resources to stock their pantries like the rest of us. Many also need to leave quickly before a lockdown, and so the women’s and girls’ shelters we have reached out to are busier than ever, and running extremely low on food supplies.
HOW IT WORKS
Anyone can support easily by donating $10/week for the next 2 months ($80 total one off donation - here on this page) to help get much needed food boxes to these busy women's shelters.
100% of money donated goes directly to buying the food boxes and delivering them each week.
Deliveries commenced last Friday 20 March, and will continue each week while funds last. Each week we will withdraw funds from this GoFundMe to our account, and use 100% of those funds on purchasing the food orders from local food suppliers. The food will be delivered direct to the shelters each week -we will keep this going for the next 2 months, longer if we can. The more funds we raise, the more food we can send each week, and hopefully open this up to support more women’s shelters in our community.
WHO WE ARE: The Mums’ Grocery Circle is a not for profit initiative set up by Bondi Bubs Wholefoods, a local child nutrition brand run by Hannah Skrzynski, mother of two and Bondi local. We felt a bit useless in face of this challenging Covid-19 crisis, and we love to feed people, literally, so we contacted some women’s shelters and put the idea out to the Bondi Bubs community to send them food. Since then, the Mums’ Grocery Circle has quickly grown to include a broad group of Sydney and internationally based mums, all wanting to help out other mums in need during this crisis. And our supporters are growing by the day!
THE SHELTERS we are currently supplying food to are : 1. Sanctuary Housing, which currently houses 14 mothers and 9 children: https://sanctuaryhousing.org.au 2.The Women and Girls' Emergency Centre (WAGEC) which has several locations currently housing around 200 women and children at any given time, mostly escaping domestic violence situations. https://www.wagec.org.au
