The Mouthhole sometimes closes...

After 12 years of glorious weirdness, the residents of the Mouthhole must move on.

The harsh reality is that the house on Oakview Dr is falling apart due to years of neglect on the part of our scummy landlord. We have lived without heat and ac, waded through our own shit, watched as the broken foundation slowly sinks, and finally the roof is falling in. All of this while our rent continues to steadily increase. We looked into purchasing The Mouthhole and fixing it up but alas the house and the land it resides on is being sold for 3.2 million dollars. Not kidding. We're asking for much less so keep that in mind for later.

Despite all these issues, it is with great sadness that we must leave behind a space that has been endlessly meaningful to us and we know to many of you. Starting The Mouthhole in July 2013 was an attempt to find our community and champion outsider music and art. It was a complete success! We met so many amazing folks who have grown to become our close friends and chosen family and had the privilege to witness some of the most unique bands, comedians and artists of all stripes! It has been an honor to host a space where being yourself on and offstage was not only encouraged but celebrated.

So that brings us to this here go fund me. We are moving and we're asking for a little help from our friends (the beatles). For the entire run of The Mouthhole we have been dedicated to having our shows be free for everyone and we have loved being able to provide that to our community. We were starving artists when we began The Mouthhole and unfortunately we still are. We could use some assistance with the downpayment for our new house and the costs associated with moving. We also hope to replace the well used furniture you all sat on and sweat on and farted on over a dozen years of punk shows.

This is a fresh start for us. So any help you could give would go a long way. We aren't leaving Nashville and very much intend on keeping the ethos and creative spirit of The Mouthhole alive through performances, booking and other avenues. The Oakview Dr house is going away but we are not! Also, for all you hardcore fans, you might be interested in knowing that the three of us ("The Mouthhole Boys") ((Michael, Zac and Travis)) will all be living together in the new space. So if you're only a fan of one of us you can still contribute.
