If you have ever walked on Crawford Street north of Dewson and South of Harbord, you have likely experienced of joy brought to this community by @TinyFilmThings’ little Mouse Theatre. Created by the amazingly talented, Brie (@cheesie.brie), every month a scene from a classic movie is skillfully recreated from tufted felt mice, for everyone to experience and enjoy. Every tiny detail of the scenes are hand made and crafted by Brie. The amount of time and dedication that Brie puts into this project to brighten our walks and days says everything about the amazing person and neighbour she is.
On Sunday June 15, someone walked up Crawford Street, and rather than observe the quiet genius and beauty of the mouse theatre, decided to destroy it in the broad daylight of the sunny afternoon. (Photo of dangerous broken glass and destruction above.)
This theatre brings so much joy to so many in the little Italy neighborhood, and we as a community would like to help the amazing and talented Brie replace her beautiful mouse theater. If there is anything that you can contribute, all funds are appreciated and will go directly to Brie for the purpose of bringing this little piece of adventure back to our community. The cost estimate includes replacing/rebuilding the tank, base, electrical/wiring, props/background pieces, mice and Now Playing sign above, as well as for additional craft supplies.
To anyone who has enjoyed the mouse theatre, I’m sure it would raise Brie’s spirit to share a note about why you love it (here or on instagram).
Thanks to everyone who has reached out to show your support
Val, on behalf of everyone who wants the theatre back
