The Mitchell Girl’s Education Fund

Donation protected
Early on the morning of May 20th, Sandra Gonzalez-Mitchell was struck and killed by a drunk driver while crossing at the crosswalk on the southwest side of Chicago. This tragic accident has taken a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and aunt that has  left a void that can never be filled. Though Sandy’s husband, Thomas Mitchell, and their young daughters, Sarah (10) and Madeline (7), have the support and love of many behind them, it’s impossible to imagine their lives without Sandy by their sides.

Sandy was a vibrant and caring mother who looked forward to the big moments that her girls would experience over the years . She talked excitedly about the prospect of Sarah attending high school at her alma mater, Mother McAuley. She would laugh thinking about how Maddie belonged in some sort of dramatic arts program while watching her livingroom dance performances. She provided her girl’s support and guidance as only a mother can. Tom is an incredible father and will be making a lot of challenging decisions regarding the girl’s futures, speficially, looking at education and the financial impact that comes along with it.

At this time, we ask that in lieu of flowers you consider a donation towards the Mitchell Girl’s Education Fund to assist Tom and the girls with any schooling needs now and in the future. We thank you all for your kindness and generosity at this very difficult time. Thank you.
