OUR BIG NEWS! The McKinlay's are moving back to Scotland!
After almost 4 years of doing life in California, we feel the Lord is calling us back to Scotland and we are asking for your help to raise the funds we need to get back home this Aug 2022!
In Dec 2018, our McKinlay clan said goodbye to all our family & friends in Scotland to follow Jesus on a crazy new adventure to California, USA. We came with only 4 suitcases, 2 guitars and our wee dog Honey.
It felt like such a risk, to leave all that we had ever known, to move halfway across the planet but we knew so clearly that Jesus was calling us to go.
We were met with extreme generosity, beautiful sunshine and a community of people eager to embrace ‘the new Scottish family’ in Santa Maria. The people were so lovely, warm and kind towards us.
To give a brief summary of our time here in America is almost impossible. I actually think we could each write a book about it lol.
California is stunning and it has been a dream come true to live here. The scenery is so beautiful from the palm trees & beaches, to the mountains, lakes and huge massive redwood trees.
However, like with anywhere, after a couple months, the honeymoon period wore off and we realized that we weren’t on holiday anymore! The reality of life started to set in.
The usual experiences of culture shock in a different country are one thing, but we also had to live through a global pandemic, lockdowns, the presidential elections and a country that very much feels divided and shaken.
Even though we had to navigate through those difficult times, we learned so much and developed a real love for the nation of America.
The best part about living here has been the people we’ve got to do life with. We came as strangers and we’re leaving as family. We will eternally be thankful for all the relationships we have built here that are so precious to us! It very much has become our USA home here and it’s painful to be leaving.
We’d especially like to honor Rick & Lori Taylor and everyone at the Healing Rooms Apostolic Centre for their love, support and generosity towards us as a family.
Our plan was very much to stay here in California long term, so it took us by surprise this Spring to have had ‘a suddenly moment’ when God started speaking to us about moving back to Scotland! We had a crazy week of signs & dreams from God that came out of the blue but were so clearly from the Lord.
We’ve submitted these things to our family, close friends and trusted leaders who have all agreed that the Lord is speaking.
So we are delighted to announce that we will be moving back to Glasgow in Aug of this year. We have both been offered new ministry jobs that we are so excited about.
Naomi has been offered and accepted the role of Congregational Leader of Ruchazie Church .
Allan has been offered and accepted the role as an Associate Worship Minister at the Global Prophetic Alliance .
So now that you know our news - We are asking our family in America and our family in the UK, AND anywhere in the world to HELP US RAISE FUNDS TO MOVE BACK TO SCOTLAND THIS SUMMER!
It is a huge undertaking to do such a big international move and the costs are quite considerable. Unfortunately, we are not in the position to pay for all of it ourselves. So we need your help specifically with some of the bigger costs;
We are being quoted prices such as
$10-12k for a shipping container
$3-5k to ship our dog honey home, vet visits, paperwork etc
$4-$5k for flights, baggage, airport shuttles
As well as all the hidden costs that come with an international move.
The beauty of crowdfunding is that if enough of you give a small amount it will all add up to be a significant amount that can see us reach our target goal of $20,000.
Consider contributing $10, $20 or maybe $50 - or more if the Lord leads you! All of the money raised will go towards the move and if there’s any left over, it’ll be used to help us get set up again in Scotland.
