The Market Store Needs YOU!

Hi, my name is Caroline and I am on the committee for The Market Store. We are fundraising to secure the future of our village store.

Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Members,
Thank you for taking the time to read about our wonderful community shop.

The Market Store is a small community village shop established by residents in May 2010 and operated by a very small team of part time employees and a merry band of volunteers who work hard to keep it running every day.

The Market Store is the beating heart of the village and its neighbours as not everyone can access other shops regularly and it particularly looks out for those most vulnerable - it could be you one day. It offers social contact to those less mobile. It acts as a hub for charitable groups, promotes local community events, and is a place where villagers can meet, learn, laugh, and of course, shop. It employs local people and provides basic good quality products, services and promotes local produce.

Over the past few years, like many small businesses, the shop has and still is, facing major challenges; Covid, the recession, increased operating costs (principally heat and power), road fuel costs affecting delivery charges, mandatory wage increases and then sadly, a much reduced footfall through the shop.

Efforts have been made to try and make a difference; from the team in the shop working hard with promotions to bring in the extra custom, to the team of volunteers in the background currently making as many changes and savings as they can to improve the overall income of the shop.

These valiant efforts are good and are working, but they may not be sufficient to see us through and the short term outlook is becoming bleak. Further changes need to be implemented to meet the challenges head on and improve the footfall. Sourcing new suppliers with better pricing, essential maintenance and updating of the shop displays and refrigeration, to name a few. However, in order to meet these objectives in the short term, an injection of capital is required to help the cashflow situation.

A small generous injection of funds will help The Market Store and allow it to remain open. Your donation would give the shop the valuable breathing space it needs to make these improvements and changes, to increase the footfall and get back on track.

How can you help?
We are aiming to raise £10,000 to help with our short term cashflow and to give our village shop a future.

Please consider donating £5 / £10 / £25 / £50 or whatever you are able to give, every little bit helps.

Can you share this post?
Please may we ask that you share this with your family & friends.
Yours and their help would allow The Market Store to continue to serve the village and surrounding community.

Thank you.
