Hi All,
I've been looking at doing a charity fundraiser for some time now and last week I saw a few separate charity fundraiser ideas to be completed throughout June.... Cycle 100Miles or Run 100KMs or Swim 30KMs.
So as a real challenge I'm going to try all 3 challenges at the same time. In June I'm going to make it a round 300kms by adding another 6 miles to the cycling, so it will be 106Miles/170KMs Cycling, 62Miles/100KMs Running and 18.5Miles/30KMs Swimming. It will be done around work and, as I'm far from an athlete, it won't be easy but all for two great causes. I'm going to track all the distances through my phone/watch and upload them daily on social media.
The two charities I'm going to do this in aid of both have a personal meaning to me and are shown below with the links to their pages if you want read about the work that they do.
The Marie Curie foundation who helped with my Auntie in 2008 and who my Nan supported regularly before her passing late last year. Marie Curie provides care and support to people living with a terminal illness and those close to them, and campaigns for better support for dying people.
UKSOBS-SURVIVORS OF BEREAVEMENT BY SUICIDE. I personally haven't had any experience with the chairty but knowing how it feels to be affected by suicide, seeing how others have been affected and knowing of the work this charity is doing for somebody close to me right now I believe it to be a charity worthy of all the help we can give. The charity aims to meet the needs and overcome the isolation experienced by people over 18 who have been bereaved by suicide. This is not just for partners/family but also for friends etc of the person who lost their battle.
All the money raised will be split evenly between two charities that I feel deserve all the help we can give. All and any donations are greatly appreciated.
