The Lyons Pray for a Baby
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Kelly and my husband is Corey. We have been married for just about three years and are ready to grow our family. When we started trying a few years back, I (Kelly) learned from a set of specialists that having children biologically wasn't a part of God's plan for me. In high school, I underwent more than a dozen abdominal surgeries, endless blood transfusions, and months of hospitalizations. While I am strong now, the physical trauma to my body made it impossible to carry a baby or healthily produce viable eggs. Having both been in education for years, we know without a doubt that you can love children without having a biological connection to them and that we are still meant to be parents together. Knowing God has plans for us, we have decided to adopt!
When jumping into adoption, we learned what so many adoptive parents have learned before us: adoption is expensive. The average domestic adoption of a newborn in America is $40,000.00. Expenses for an adoption include agency fees, court costs, lawyer fees, birth mother expenses, hospital expenses, and potential travel costs if the baby is born in another state. We have applied to several grants and are hopeful, but are realistic that we are not the only prospective adoptive parents out there. While we are putting everything we financially can towards our dream, we realize that we need help.
We have hesitated to post a crowdfunding campaign, but we know we won't be able to do this alone. They say it takes a village, and we are humble in acknowledging that we are going to need our village to bring a baby home. While we never imagined having a baby to look quite like this, we are more than excited to welcome a child in need to our home and shower them with love! We thank you immeasurably for reading our story and supporting however you can.
