The Love Flag was created in response to the terrorist attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on January 1, 2025. Crafted from a simple shower curtain and spray paint, it quickly became clear that even the most humble materials, when used with intention, can have a profound impact.
The flag moved people in a deeply positive way, sparking a wave of hope and unity. What started as a one-time act evolved into something much larger when the overwhelming support we received inspired us to continue.
In 2025, the Love Flag ran 172 times, each run honoring the victims of the attack and spreading love, joy, and togetherness. People were encouraged to "run with the Love Flag" when they saw it moving down the street.
We also give out Love Flag stickers. To date, we’ve given away over 5,000 stickers.
Our efforts are supported by donations through our GoFundMe, which helps cover the cost of the Love Flag stickers and contributes to our mission of feeding the homeless.
Primarily in the winter months, we work to provide hot meals for those in need, particularly in the French Quarter area. Our "one-pot meals" include dishes like mac and cheese with ham or sausage, as well as pasta and rice meals with proteins. Each outing typically costs around $75, allowing us to serve 40-50 meals to those in need.
We’re currently collaborating with local restaurants, manufacturers, and distributors to secure donations of pasta, beans (like pinto), and proteins like ham, sausage, or any type of meats. If you're in the New Orleans area and can contribute, we’d love to pick up your donation.
While our social media presence is small—around 2,000 followers on Instagram and 1,250 on TikTok—we make it a point to highlight any food donations from restaurants or vendors, sharing their generosity with our community online.
We’re also in the process of registering as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which will cost about $600. Once we’re officially recognized, all donations will be tax-exempt, and we’ll provide the necessary documentation.
We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received—YOU are the reason we keep spreading the love, and we need you more than ever.
