Hello!
This fundraiser is for Jamie Edmonds and Leslie Becker Edmonds.
Who We Are
Our names are Donna, Keith, and Nathan and we are friends of Jamie & Leslie. Thank you for exploring this opportunity to join hands with us and many others in support of these two amazing human beings.
Who Jamie and Leslie Are
For those who may not know, Jamie & Leslie have lived lives of quiet, humble, loving service for years.
Jamie is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic and cancer survivor. He has used his retirement to volunteer full-time in service to his community, including Boys to Men Mentoring, The Mankind Project, Tom Campbell’s My Big TOE/MBT Events, and together with Leslie they create meditation/healing labyrinths throughout the parks, schools, and beaches of Southern California as gifts to the community.
Leslie, a former StatePark Ranger and special needs teacher, also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), ensuring the care and well-being of foster children. Leslie & Jamie have also volunteered together reading books and newspapers for the Radio Reading Service for the Blind at their local PBS station.
Background
They raised their granddaughter from the age of two into her teenage years during a season of need for their son. Now they have a dream: for their son and his young family (wife and three small children) to move out of a garage they currently live in and settle into their new and proper nest for a family: Jamie & Leslie’s own home. Jamie & Leslie will move out and into a Casita they had started building in the house’s backyard to “age in place” together, and to leave as a resource for the family. At least that was the plan, until COVID happened.
The Little House Love Will Build
This 1200 square foot casita was originally designed to be fully-funded by Jamie & Leslie’s savings and home equity, and its planning began prior to COVID. Now with supply chain and other building cost complications, the completion of this dream on behalf of their loved ones is truly impossible without going into considerable additional debt. As retirees whose monthly income is dedicated to the costs of living and wanting to leave resources to their family, taking out additional loans would be devastating to this dream.
Join in Support
Please join me in supporting these two incredibly loving individuals who have always put others first. Now is their time to be supported by others to cross this worthy finish line. On the other side of that finish line is both a proper nest for their son's young family as well as ongoing community and volunteer service from Jamie & Leslie. It’s just who they are! Thank you Jamie & Leslie for being you and for all you do.
And thank you, dear reader, for any measure of support you can provide.
All for Love!
