Support The Lilly Family - Micro-Preemie Twins
We are raising money on behalf of the Lilly family to help support their newborn miracle monochorionic diamniotic (“MoDi”) twin boys. They made their way into this world at the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak and have been growing daily in the NICU.
Only three months earlier, their parents, Breana and Charles learned they were having twins. They were as delighted as anybody could be. In the weeks that followed, things became complicated as they learned that the twins were fighting for their lives. MoDi twins are extremely rare to say the least, accounting for 0.075% of all pregnancies. After countless trips to Houston, specialists realized they were suffering from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. The situation became critical and Breana underwent emergency surgery. By the grace of God, on March 7th, 2020 Sheppard and Silas Lilly were born at 26 weeks gestation, weighing under 2 pounds.
In the weeks that followed, the Covid-19 Pandemic had officially gripped the Nation. As shelter in place was announced, Charles, the sole provider for the family, was suddenly forced to take a leave of absence from his job. The parents spent two agonizing weeks in the NICU before they could hold their babies for the first time. With most of their family members quarantined in California, they have faced this challenge mostly on their own.
Now, two months later, they have finally brought Sheppard home! Silas on the other hand is in need of a small surgical operation that is common in preemies. Due to his size, doctors are trying to avoid an emergency while they care for him in Temple, Texas. While Charles is still awaiting his return to work, Breana is keeping busy creating beautiful earrings that she sells online.
