Keowee Lake Life is excited to announce our major SCDNR approved (not endorsed) lake project for 2022...

THE LIGHTHOUSE PROJECT!!!

For decades the navigational hazards on Keowee have been unlit at night. As more people are calling Keowee home, I was unable to turn a blind eye regarding the safety of my neighbors. After pulling MANY boats off these hazards in the dark (the last one with injuries)... I felt morally bound to take action.

It shouldn't have to be this hard but to be in compliance with current legislation... We will be anchoring custom built, legally registered, insured "Lighthouse vessels" immediately adjacent to the hazards. These vessels will be specially equipped for the harsh environment with multiple redundancies of solar powered LED lighting and an excessive anchoring systems. They are legally allowed to stay anchored indefinitely... as long as they are registered and properly illuminated.

I believe in my heart, the safety of my friends, neighbors and family is worth the effort!

How can you help? With everything good in life... it takes a village. I WILL NEED YOUR HELP! As you can imagine... the immediate need is funding as we develop and equip our hazard marking Lighthouse vessels. After they are in place though... I'm going to need eyes and hands to ensure our hazard marking vessels are fully operational at all times. Much more to come on this later.

I want to take a moment to personally thank SCDNR agent DJ. He was amazing to deal with. He listened to my frustrations, always responded to my questions within 24 hours and clearly had a servants heart throughout the process. It is rare indeed to find a public servant willing to engage. Thank you DJ.
