The Leotard Project

My name is Anna Roth. I have been dancing since I was three. It is still my passion today.

Recently, I was thinking about all of the leotards and dance shoes that I have outgrown. So often, junior dancewear is discarded and goes to waste. Yet, many children cannot afford dance attire and therefore may not dance. To alleviate these issues, I am organizing the collection of gently used leotards, tights, shoes, and skirts and will find new homes for them with children who need these items to dance, such as those in Title I programs. I am setting up a website to be a not-for-profit clearinghouse for dancewear. Several dance studios have already agreed to host our collection boxes.

I would appreciate a donation of any size to cover the expenses of collection boxes and signage ($750), shipping ($600), website domain, hosting, and email ($250), and supplementing our inventory with items that might not be donated in sufficient quantities (e.g., tights and items in larger sizes ($3400 -- to be purchased wholesale when possible).

I am starting this project locally, and I hope to then scale to reach dancers in as many communities as possible.

Thanks for your consideration -- and please forward this to your friends who love dance!
