The Krainik Family

Ryan and I are opening our home, and our hearts, to a family in great need. Hanna (36), Mikhail (36) and Mark (7) were forced to flee their home in Ukraine, alongside millions of other families, as war broke out around them. On February 24th, they woke up to the sound of explosions nearby, grabbed their beloved cat along with whatever they could fit into a single suite case and fled in search of safety. They later learned that their home and community had been completely destroyed, and they lost everything.

 

“Uniting for Ukraine” has presented an opportunity for us to help by offering safety and shelter, allowing us to host the family in our home in DeWitt, Iowa.  We are expecting them to arrive by the end of June for a minimum 2 year stay.  

 

Through the U4U program, Hanna who is a professional videographer/photographer and Mikhail who is an IT professional will be able to apply for US work visas during their stay and want to work; however, there are steep fees to apply and it may take several months to become approved and find work. In the meantime, they will need clothing, shoes, groceries, healthcare and other basic necessities as they begin to rebuild their lives.

 

We are asking for the support of our friends, families and community in hopes that you will embrace this family as we are and help them find some sense of peace and wellbeing. If you are able, and would like to contribute, all funds raised will be given directly to the Krainik family.
