Our kindergarteners are discovering how big things can grow from tiny seeds — including curiosity, teamwork, and care for the world around them.
Over the years, the five raised garden beds have brought so much joy to students. But after many seasons of sun, wind, and wear, the beds are ready for a refresh! With your help, we’re rebuilding and reimagining the garden to create a vibrant outdoor classroom where children can dig, discover, and learn.
What We’re Growing
Three themed garden boxes
- Pizza Garden — tomatoes, basil, oregano, peppers, onions
- Sensory Garden — soft lamb’s ear, fragrant lavender, colorful pansies, and edible herbs
- Pollinator & Bouquet Garden — zinnias, sunflowers, milkweed, and more
Beautification & Renewal
- Fresh soil, compost, and mulch
- Painting and decorating the garden beds
- Kid-friendly benches and labeled beds
- A “Garden Sponsors” plaque to honor donors and volunteers
Why It Matters
School gardens are more than just green spaces — they’re living classrooms. Research shows that garden programs:
- Increase children’s willingness to try fruits and vegetables
- Improve focus, cooperation, and emotional growth
- Boost attendance and engagement on garden days
Every dollar helps our students connect with nature, science, and each other — one plant at a time.
Our Goal
We’re raising funds to cover materials for rebuilding the beds, refreshing soil, adding plants, tools, and mulch, and hosting hands-on lessons throughout the year.
Our generous volunteers Kelli and Billy have already donated $500 to kickstart the project — now we’re inviting our community to help us reach the finish line!
How You Can Help
$10 = a flat of flowers
$25 = compost & fertilizer for one bed
$50 = a kid-sized tool set
$100 = a new tomato cage, trellis, or bench
Any amount helps bring this joyful space to life

Please Note: This fundraiser is a community-led volunteer effort to support the kindergarten garden at La Costa Heights Elementary. It is not sponsored or managed by the school or district. Donations are not tax-deductible, but all funds will be used by our volunteer team to purchase soil, plants, tools, and supplies to bring the Kinder Garden to life.
