The Kelly Family’s Recovery

My beautiful sister Brooke and brother in law Doug have really had their fair share of ups and downs throughout their lives but the last 3 months have been especially tough. Firstly, their daughter Laila was born in March with a congenital heart condition and will need to have open heart surgery at the age of 6-9 months.

Then when Laila was less than a week old, Doug was told he needed a full valve replacement in his heart. When Laila was a month old, Doug underwent open heart surgery leaving Brooke to hold the forte at home with the 3 kids.

Recently both the littlies Owen and Laila, have been in and out of hospital. Unfortunately this will be pretty normal for Laila until she has surgery if she is not able to stabilise her oxygen levels each time she gets sick.

To add another blow to this already suffering family, Doug didn’t recover well after another stress test and has to go in for surgery again to have his pacemaker replaced to be a defibrillator one.

Given what they’ve gone through I thought setting up a GoFundMe might take the pressure off trying to find money to pay a few of their bills so that they can focus on Doug’s (and Laila’s future) recovery. Let’s rally together in their time of need and support them.

My big sister is the most resilient and strong woman I know and deserves all the help she can get for her family at the moment.
