Urgent Appeal for Munglai-Hkyet IDP Camp
Urgent Appeal for Assistance - Artillery Strike Tragedy in the Kachin IDP camp.
Dear Friends and colleagues,
We, the Kachin Relief Fund, are raising Urgent Appeal Funding for the Munglai-Hkyet IDP camp, which is located near the Chinese border and in a control area of the Kachin Independence Organisation, one of the several ethnic freedom fighters fighting for freedom from Burmese military tyranny.
On Monday, 9th October 2023, just before midnight, around 11:25 pm local time, the Burmese military' targeted bombardment attacks towards the Munglai-Hkyet IDP camp, causing the tragic loss of 29 lives, including 11 children as young as two years old. We are deeply concerned for the remaining families and the community within the camps and surrounding area.
At this critical time, we urgently request your support to assist the victims and their families who have been profoundly affected by this devastating incident. Your contribution will directly contribute to helping our fellow countrymen, women, and children in need.
The Kachin conflict is one of the most neglected crises in the World. Over a decade of conflict-affected people experiencing multiple displacements, Kachin IDPs suffer constant fear and anxiety daily. Leaving behind their land and properties for many years with lives in the camps has been unbearable with decreased humanitarian assistance. Uncertain hope to return to their homeland with dignity and their most significant concern for their children's future has become increasingly deemed.
Their livelihoods have been hard enough, and this constant attack is unbearable for the people of Kachin.
Kachin Relief Fund UK
We are raising money for the Kachin IDPs to aid the Kachin Relief Fund UK (KRF). KRF is a registered charity organization founded by the Kachin community in the UK in 2009, just before the wake of the resuming war. It aims to provide a desperate need for their compatriots back home and continue providing humanitarian aid such as emergency relief and education—programs for the Kachin IDPs and beyond affected by the conflict across the county. KRF is also closely working with the Kachin CSOs, Local NGOs and religious organizations.
Please kindly consider donating to help alleviate the suffering and provide much-needed support to those affected by this tragedy. All your 100% generous contributions will go to Munglai- Hkyet IDP camp, and this will make a significant difference in the lives of those who lost their loved ones and are now facing immense challenges.
Please continue to pray for them and convey the strong message that the World has yet forgotten their suffering and continue to stand with them.
Thank you for your kind consideration and support in this time of tragic need.
