The "K" Family Christmas Game Changer

Happy Holidays All,
I hope this finds each of you and your families well and healthy. This quote hit home hard this year as I cannot begin to count my family's many blessings. I am beyond grateful. The family I am going to descirbe lives 15 minutes from our backyard.
Sloan (Amanda) and I teamed up with the Bankers Life Omaha Office to adopt a family for Christmas through Salvation Army. I have donated to the cause before but have never been in personal contact with the family and this is why I am reaching beyond that. I truly have been moved to help this family to the fullest of my ability. That is where you come in.
For privacy purposes we are going to refer to the adopted family as The "K" Family. The K's are made up of Mama K, Little 6K, Little 4K, and AboutToGradK.
Similar to many families this year Mama K lost her father 5 months ago, he was her rock and support, she then lost her job just a month after that.
After a few phone calls and mulitiple emails with Mama K this has become more than just providing for Christmas for them. The K's are in need of not only a gift or two for Christmas but basic necessities. Well, I consider my bed a basic necessity. When I found out they were all sharing a bed that was it for me. This GoFundMe had to be created. When I then found out this was the first month Mama K had missed her rent with all the goings on of 2020 I was shocked. When I found out she was worried she could not cover the fee for her son's cap and gown for graduation I upped the goal. That one stung. The list goes on my friends, each one stinging a little more.
2020 has wreaked havoc both financial and emotionally on so many families. I think we can agree that this year just seems tougher all around. But, we get through the tough times together. We are collectively a large team and I truly believe I have the best team around. I am blessed to be surrounded by an amzaing wife, loving family, caring office and giving friends. Friends, you're needed right now. The K's need you right now. We all have our causes, especially around this time, but anything will help Mama K and her "littles" as she has called them during this time.
