The Journey of Adoption

Hello, my name is Alaina and I am the blessed sister and sister-in-law to Sofia and David McGarty. I and my family, (Andreas, Janet, Wolfgang, and Nadia), desire to create this GoFundMe on behalf of Sofia and David.

In the summer of 2021, Sofia married David and they began their lifelong adventure in Charlotte, NC. From the beginning, Sofia and David's relationship has been filled with abundant evidence of God's guidance and faithfulness. From maintaining a long-distance relationship and seeing each other a few times a year to now desiring to renovate their new house and build a family together, they have grown in so many ways. Their spiritual and emotional growth continues to be evidenced due to their dependence on their favorite scripture verse that says,

"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,' says the Lord. 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.'"

Although this time of adjustment has not been easy for them, they constantly desire to see the Lord's provision in every venue of their life. Currently, the Lord has placed on their heart the calling to serve Him through adoption. This process can be long, expensive, and emotionally taxing. I and the rest of my family know that a strong support system from loved ones is vital in the adoption process. We covet your support for them first off through prayer: that they would find the strength, wisdom, and discernment to be connected with the right agency and the right child. Along with prayer, we desire to help them financially, knowing the process is broken and financially burdensome. If you would be willing to support them through prayer and/or through monetary gifts we know they would be eternally grateful.

Your gifts would help cover the initial agency expense, required home study, lawyer fees, health care involvement, and counselors.

Mark 9:36-37
