Hello everyone, I want to thank all of those who have been reaching out and praying for my family in Jamaica during this time. Your prayers are working. This hurricane has taken so much from this country and my family. It has been beyond devastating to see the destruction it has caused. This country that has been nothing but a home to me did not deserve this.

My family in Jamaica lives in the parish of St. Elizabeth in Black River. For those who don’t know, Hurricane Melissa hit their community at a Category 5, leaving 80% to 90% of homes without roofs and no way of modern living.

It took four very, very long days to finally hear Roseanne and her family were safe. Although they are safe, their house did take damage to the roof where half of their roof had come off. Those who live in the home are Roseanne’s grandmother, aunt, uncle, her two cousins, and her brother and sister.

I am making this fund to go towards a proper roof to be built. It would be a concrete roof so that if they ever suffer any other storms, their roof would not be blown away. I am also making this fund to go towards things that were damaged in the home and for the essential needs that they very much need right now.

I also want to take a moment for those who don’t know how my connection to this family started.

In 2019, I went on a missions trip to Jamaica, visiting the Jamaican Deaf Village in Mandeville. On the first day of my trip, I met Roseanne Johnson. After 10 minutes of meeting her, we were holding hands and hugging as if we’d known each other our whole lives. I knew within that moment that she would be a part of my life forever. And I knew that whatever she needed in life, I would do everything in my power to make sure she got that. My bond has only grown with her since. And I’ve also been blessed enough to build a bond with her whole entire family as well.

Bianca Forbes, Nigel Johnson, Doreen Johnson, Rhonda Johnson, Jaylen Johnson, and Jayden, Doreen’s son, have become my biggest pride and joy in life. Throughout the years, I’ve come back to visit them 1-2 times a year where I get villas and we get to spend time together and make so many memories. This family has changed my life in so many ways. Nothing could measure up to the amount of love that they bring to my life. I know God knew that we needed each other in our lives. We may not be blood, but I believe what we have is way beyond that. They are my home. They are my everything.

Any donation to their family will help in so many ways and is beyond appreciated. This journey to build back what they have lost will be long, but we will do this together. Again, thank you so much to my family, friends, clients, and the people in Jamaica who’ve been nothing but helping me try to get information on my family. I have so much love for you all.
