The Incurable(s), raising funds for cancer support
As someone who was diagnosed with stage 4 Oesophageal Cancer back in October 2024, the news was a bit of a shock. I am and always have been fairly pragmatic about various impacts in life, and this has been no different. I have the gift of time, never sure about how long, but with every living cell in my body, I want for nothing more than to help others going through a similar condition. My Oncology team are just so hard working and fantastic, from my Oncologist to every specialist, nurse, HCA, volunteer working within Oncology, they are like an extended family and with family, we support each other!
Following my most recent scan, the Oncology team confirmed that I had achieved a Complete Metabolic Response, which was the best news I could have ever received, my cancer is effectively dormant. I may not be cancer free, but my prognosis is much improved! This just goes to show, with so many amazing therapies available, there is every chance possible to have a real impact to cancer, even if it’s a case of living with the condition, but living a better life. The ongoing support can make a real meaningful difference, if you can afford to, please donate to help the charity to provide ongoing support and care.
So what’s the craic? Myself, my fabulous big bro Nick Carroll and my most marvellous brother-in-law Adrian Smales are looking to take part in a great initiative brought to life by Sir Chris Hoy. Read more about it here: https://tourde4.com
We’ve chosen the Red Route for the challenge, a testy route of just 56 miles with some solid inclines included for good measure. The challenge will be later in the year on 7th September 2025, but we’ve a load of training to pack in, which will be aided once my last chemo is complete at the end of March.
So enough of this, do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Hope For Tomorrow and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about Hope For Tomorrow:
Hope for Tomorrow is a dedicated charity bringing cancer care closer to patients via our Mobile Cancer Care Units. As a cancer charity we understand that time is a crucial factor for patients. In 2007 we launched the world’s first Mobile Cancer Care Unit to bring vital cancer care closer to patients enabling them to spend more time with family and friends. We develop, build, provide and maintain units to support patients who are going through cancer treatment by alleviating the stress.
