Hello,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Huron County Agricultural Heritage Society. We were organized in 1975 and are located at 14 Fair Rd. in Norwalk, Ohio on the west side of the Huron County Fairgrounds. We are a 501c3 organization, charter number 567468.
Our motto is Preserving the Past, Educating the Present, to Enrich the Future. As an organization we are responsible for maintaining the buildings in our section of the fairgrounds. The following is a list of some of the buildings we maintain: An 1876 farm house, 2 barns, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a wood fired brick bake oven. All of these buildings hold working displays and volunteers that demonstrate their use during the fair. During the off season the buildings are used to store our antique farm equipment.
We are asking for assistance in repairing our big barn's roof. It is approximately 40x120 feet and in the last five years it has acquired some leaks that we've tried to repair several times to no avail. The replacement estimate we received in 2024 from Ken's Standing Seam is $111,357.90 for a new metal roof. Please help us continue to provide education to our community and keep these old school skills alive by supporting our replacement of the big barn's roof.
Sincerely,
Eugene Hopkins, President
