THE STORY

a letter from Bachir

It is with unwavering pride and conviction that I introduce Bayt el-Rawi – The House of the Storyteller; a project that has lived in my heart for many years. Since the early days of my involvement in cultural work, I have dreamt of creating a space that allows our community to own its past, and dictate how its past gives meaning to its present and future. The past is complex and vast, and making sense of it requires a space that nurtures artistic expression, fosters dialogue, and grounds creativity in the stories and soul of our land. Bayt el-Rawi aims to be a refuge for our past through artistic expression, where stories reclaim space, confront erasure, and affirm the dignity of our people.

As someone from Jabal Amel, my bond with this land is intimate and enduring. I want, above all, to be present here, present in voice, present in story, present in action. This project is rooted in a sense of affection for the land and its people, and in a belief that art and storytelling are essential to how we stay connected to both.

Along with devastating our villages and livelihood, the ongoing Israeli aggression is a war on our past, present and future. It seeks to retell our stories and reclaim our fate. When bombs fall, first they initially crush bodies and homes; then they target memory and narrative. It is this context that makes this project urgent and pressing. We now stand at a crossroads, searching for meaning, connection, and the power to author our own history. Bayt el-Rawi aims to be one of those steadfast spaces, a haven for reflection, collective imagination, creative defiance, and uncompromising freedom of expression.

This initiative will transform a traditional house offered by a friend in the Maydane area of Kafarrouman into a dynamic cultural hub. With a library, co-working space, coffee corner, outdoor venue, artist residencies, and a rich program of events and workshops, this house will provide artists, filmmakers, musicians, and writers a platform to thrive and stay rooted in their community.

At its core, Bayt el Rawi is about storytelling. It is a space to honor our past, engage with our present, and imagine our future, through film, theater, literature, music, and all forms of artistic expression. Artists are the storytellers of a people, and now more than ever, our stories need to be told, rooted in our lived experiences, beautifully and unapologetically.

This project is not merely about art, it is about survival, regeneration, and the preservation of collective memory. It is our cultural response to displacement, our counter-narrative to domination, and a practical step towards a more just, connected, and self-determined society, one in which the right to speak, create, and dream is protected for everyone, especially those pushed to the margins.

A CREATIVE HOME IN JABAL AMEL - SOUTH LEBANON

Bayt el‑Rawi is an initiative by Beirut Film Institute aimed at creating a vibrant cultural and creative hub in the Maydane area of Kafarrouman, Jabal Amel, Southern Lebanon. Housed in a refurbished traditional home, this space will serve as a community gathering point, offering opportunities for artistic expression, education, and social engagement.

The house will feature indoor and outdoor areas designed to accommodate a variety of creative, cultural, and social activities. It will include a common workspace, a library, a small coffee shop, and an open‑air theatre for public gatherings and artistic events.

The house will be refurbished with a focus on sustainability and adaptability, ensuring that it remains a welcoming and inspiring space for diverse cultural activities. The residency program will enrich the cultural house by bringing in artists who can contribute to the local creative scene, while the annual festivals will establish the area as a cultural destination.

The project will unfold in three phases: Phase 1 focuses on renovation and preparing the space; Phase 2 activates the house with workshops and local events; and Phase 3 launches artist residencies, a film festival, and a theatre festival.

A FOUNDATION OF BELIEF

The very heart of Bayt el-Rawi is grounded in the generosity of Yara Daher, a dear friend who has offered the house and surrounding land as a long term gift to this vision. This profound act of trust and belief in the project marks our first milestone—creating a tangible foundation on which we can build. This contribution not only anchors Bayt el-Rawi physically, but also inspires all those who support it to invest in a project that already carries a strong legacy of hope.

PROJECT STRUCTURE & COMMUNITY FUNDING PHILOSOPHY

Bayt el-Rawi will unfold in three clear phases:

Phase 1 , focuses on the renovation and preparation of the space (three to five months - 32,000 euro);

Phase 2, will launch regular programming including workshops and local events (six to ten months - 28,000 euro);

Phase 3, will host major annual festivals and artist residencies (two to three years - 60,000 euro) .

This first phase is crucial—it lays the physical and symbolic foundation for everything to come. We are intentionally choosing to launch this project through grassroots, community-powered funding. This space is meant to be held by those it serves: built with collective care, and accountable to no agenda. Your contribution at this stage doesn’t just support a renovation—it affirms that spaces for free creative expression and shared cultural life are essential, and that they begin with trust, commitment, and shared ownership.

THE GROUND WE STAND ON

Jabal Amel is rich in cultural, political, and resistance legacies. This land has long been defined by social struggles, creativity, and diversity, and Bayt el-Rawi is a contribution towards that living heritage. Bayt Al Rawi recognizes the depth and value of our history and seeks to honor the sacrifices made by generations before us, not through memorials alone, but through the living, breathing act of creation, and reimagining a just and liberated future.

Art, in this context, is not a luxury. It is the most powerful and honest vehicle we have for storytelling. Art allows us to communicate deep feelings and experiences that cannot be described in mere words. And only by embracing our social, political, and cultural diversity can we tell the many stories that make this our land, that make all the blood and sweat that its soil has absorbed even more defining to our future selves. So this space honors the many stories of Jabal Amel, offering room for every voice, every memory, and every expression that deepens our understanding of who we are.

While our experiences are diverse and sometimes contradictory, they are all threads in a shared present. The history of this region belongs to all its people. And in that spirit, the timing of this project is not incidental. It is intentional. In the face of ongoing threats, fragmentation, and imposed silence, culture and art become tools of resistance. They are how we remember, how we imagine, and how we fight back — together.

بمودّة وقناعة ثابتة، أقدّم إليكم "بيت الرّاوي"؛ مشروع عاش في قلبي لسنوات طويلة. منذ بداياتي في العمل الثقافي، حلمت بخلق مساحة تمكّن مجتمعنا من امتلاك تاريخه، وتحديد كيف يمنح هذا التاريخ المعنى لحاضرنا ومستقبلنا. الماضي معقّد وواسع، وفهمه يتطلّب مساحات تحتضن التعبير الفنّي، وتعزّز الحوار، وتُجذّر الإبداع في حكايات هذه الأرض وأهلها. يسعى "بيت الرّاوي" إلى أن يكون ملجأً لذاك الماضي، حيث تستعيد الرّوايات مساحاتها، وتواجه المحو الممنهج، وتصون كرامة شعبنا.

كابن جبل عامل، علاقتي بهذه الأرض عميقة ودائمة. فقد قرّرت، قبل كل شيء، أن أكون حاضرًا هنا، بالصوت، والرّواية، والفعل. فهذا المشروع متجذّر في حبّ الأرض وأهلها، ومن إيمان عميق بأنّ الفنّ والرّواية عنصران أساسيان لبقائنا متّصلين بهما.

العدوان الإسرائيلي المستمر، إلى جانب تدميره لقرانا وأرزاقنا، هو أيضًا امتداد لحرب على تاريخنا وحاضرنا ومستقبلنا. إذ إنّ الاحتلال يسعى دائمًا إلى سرقة رواياتنا وتحديد مصيرنا. عندما تسقط القنابل، تُسحق الأجساد وتُدمَّر الحجارة أوّلًا، ثم تُستهدف الذاكرة والسرديّة. هذا السياق يجعل المشروع مُلحًّا وأساسيًا، لأنّنا اليوم عند مفترق، نبحث عن المعنى، والانتماء، والقدرة على كتابة تاريخنا بأنفسنا. "بيت الرّاوي" هو إحدى هذه المساحات الثابتة – ملاذ للتأمّل، والخيال الجماعي، والعناد الإبداعي.

سيحوّل هذا المشروع بيتًا تقليديًا تبرّعت به صديقة في سهل الميدنة في كفررمان - جنوب لبنان، إلى مركز ثقافي نابض. يحتوي البيت على مكتبة، ومساحة عمل مشتركة، وقهوة صغيرة، ومسرح خارجي، وبرنامج للإقامات الفنّية، ومجموعة واسعة من الفعاليات والورش. وسيوفّر منصّة للفنّانين في المنطقة، من صنّاع الأفلام، والموسيقيين، والكتّاب كي يبدعوا، ويبقوا متجذّرين في مجتمعهم.

جوهر "بيت الراوي" هو الحكاية. هو مساحة لاحتواء الماضي، والانخراط في الحاضر، وتخيّل المستقبل – من خلال السينما، والمسرح، والأدب، والموسيقى، وكل أشكال التعبير الفنّي. الفنّانون هم رواة شعوبهم، والآن، أكثر من أي وقت مضى، يجب أن تُروى حكاياتنا، منبثقة من تجاربنا الحيّة، بقيمتها، بشروطنا وبلا مساومة.

هذا المشروع ليس عن الفنّ فحسب، بل عن البقاء، والتجدّد، وحفظ الذاكرة الجماعيّة. هو ردّنا الثقافي على التهجير، وسرديّتنا الأصل في وجه الهيمنة، وخطوة عملية نحو مجتمع أكثر عدلًا وترابطًا وتقريرًا لمصيره – مجتمع يحمي حقّه في الإبداع والحلم، خصوصًا حقّ أولئك الّذين دُفعوا نحو الهامش.

بيتٌ للإبداع في جبل عامل - جنوب لبنان

بيت الراوي هو مبادرة من مؤسسة بيروت للأفلام، تهدف إلى إنشاء مركز ثقافي وإبداعي نابض بالحياة في سهل الميدنة في كفَررمان، جنوب لبنان. سيقام المشروع في منزل تقليدي مُرمَّم، ليكون نقطة التقاء مجتمعية، تتيح فرصًا للتعبير الفني، والتعليم، والتفاعل الاجتماعي.

سيضم البيت مساحات داخلية وخارجية مصممة لاستيعاب مجموعة متنوعة من الأنشطة الإبداعية والثقافية والاجتماعية. سيتضمن مساحة عمل مشتركة، مكتبة، مقهى صغير، ومسرحًا في الهواء الطلق مخصصًا للتجمعات العامة والفعاليات الفنية.

سيُعاد ترميم البيت مع التركيز على الاستدامة والمرونة، لضمان بقائه مساحةً مرحبة وملهمة للنشاطات الثقافية المتنوعة. كما ستُثري برامج الإقامة الفنية البيت من خلال استضافة فنانين يساهمون في المشهد الإبداعي المحلي، في حين ستُرسخ المهرجانات السنوية المنطقة كوجهة ثقافية.

سيتم تطوير المشروع على ثلاث مراحل:

المرحلة الأولى تركز على الترميم وتحضير المساحة؛ المرحلة الثانية تنشط البيت من خلال ورش العمل والفعاليات المحلية؛ المرحلة الثالثة تطلق الإقامات الفنية، ومهرجانًا سينمائيًا، وآخر مسرحيًا.

ينبع جوهر بيت الراوي من كرم الصديقة العزيزة يارا ضاهر، التي قدّمت المنزل والأرض المحيطة به كهدية طويلة الأمد لهذه الرؤية.

هذا الفعل العميق من الثقة والإيمان بالمشروع يُشكّل أولى انطلاقاتنا، إذ نُنشئ من خلاله أساسًا ملموسًا يمكن البناء عليه.

هذه المساهمة لا تُرسّخ بيت الراوي ماديًا فحسب، بل تُلهم أيضًا كل من يدعمه للاستثمار في مشروع يحمل منذ بدايته إرثًا قويًا من الأمل.

ما نطمح إلى تحقيقه

إنشاء مساحة ديناميكية للإبداع، والتعلّم، والتعاون، تنبع من احتياجات المجتمع وتستند إلى حرية التعبير الفني.

توفير منصة للفنانين، والموسيقيين، وصانعي الأفلام، والمسرحيين، والروائيين لخلق أعمالهم، ومشاركتها، والازدهار بها محليًا.

تمكين الأطفال والشباب: خلق مساحات آمنة وشاملة للشباب للتجمّع، والتعبير عن أنفسهم، واستكشاف إبداعاتهم من خلال التفاعل المجتمعي وبين الأجيال.

تبادل بين الأجيال: تعزيز الحوار الإبداعي بين الأطفال، والشباب، وكبار السن في جنوب لبنان، لربط الأجيال عبر تجارب ثقافية مشتركة.

رواية القصص واستمرارية الثقافة: الحفاظ على السرديات المحلية وترسيخها عبر مختلف أشكال الفنون، مع اعتبار الحكاية أداة للحوار المدني والمرونة الثقافية.

تعليم فني متاح للجميع: تقديم تعليم فني مجاني أو بأسعار رمزية، وتوفير الموارد الإبداعية لإزالة الحواجز الجغرافية والاقتصادية أمام المشاركة.

تماسك المجتمع والتعافي: دعم الرعاية الجماعية، والتفكير النقدي، واستعادة الحياة الثقافية في أعقاب الحرب والتهجير.

داخل البيت

الأنشطة الثقافية والإبداعية

ورش عمل: في مجالات متعددة مثل الفنون البصرية (رسم، تلوين)، الحِرَف، الموسيقى، صناعة الأفلام، المسرح، الرقص، وفنون الأداء، مع برامج مخصصة لمختلف الفئات العمرية.

الكورال وفرقة موسيقية: مجموعة شاملة تقدم تدريبات صوتية وآلاتية، وتُختتم بعروض موسيقية محلية.

فرقة المسرح وفنون الأداء: فرقة جماعية تعمل على إعداد عروض مسرحية مستوحاة من الحكايات المحلية والواقع.

فرقة الرقص: حصص منتظمة وتدريبات في الرقص التقليدي والمعاصر، تُتوّج بعروض موسمية.

أمسيات الحكاية، الشعر، والأدب: مساحة للتعبير الأدبي تجمع الكُتّاب، الشعراء، والحكّائين.

أمسيات الألعاب والمسابقات: ترفيه تفاعلي يقوده المجتمع.

ليالي السينما في الهواء الطلق – سينما تحت القمر: عروض شهرية تحت النجوم لأفلام كلاسيكية ومستقلة.

مخيم صناعة الأفلام: برنامج مكثّف عملي يأخذ المشاركين من النص إلى الشاشة.

مخيم الرواية: تجربة موسمية تمتد لعدة أيام تتناول التاريخ الشفهي، كتابة النصوص، وتقنيات الأداء لجميع الأعمار.

صفوف اليوغا واليقظة الذهنية: دعم للصحة الجسدية والنفسية عبر الحركة الواعية والتنفس.

مهرجانان سنويان

مهرجان السينما: احتفال سنوي بالفن السابع، يعرض أفلامًا محلية وعالمية، ويتضمن عروضًا، نقاشات، وورش عمل.

مهرجان المسرح: حدث سنوي مخصص لفنون المسرح، يتيح منصة للعروض المحلية والضيوف لتقديم أعمالهم.

المرافق

المساحة الداخلية: مكتبة، مقهى صغير، ومساحة عمل مشتركة مزودة بحواسيب مخصصة للبحث والمشاريع الإبداعية.

المساحة الخارجية: فضاء متعدّد الاستخدامات للعروض، الورش، عروض الأفلام، واللقاءات الاجتماعية.

برنامج الإقامة الفنية

بيوت خشبية: مصمّمة خصيصًا لاستضافة الفنانين المقيمين، وتوفر لهم مساحة هادئة لتطوير مشاريعهم الإبداعية.

هيكل المشروع وفلسفة التمويل المجتمعي

سيطور بيت الراوي على ثلاث مراحل واضحة:

المرحلة الأولى تركز على ترميم وتجهيز المساحة (ثلاثة إلى خمسة أشهر – ٣٢,٠٠٠ يورو)

المرحلة الثانية تطلق برامج منتظمة تشمل ورش العمل والفعاليات المحلية (ستة إلى عشرة أشهر – ٢٨,٠٠٠ يورو)

المرحلة الثالثة تستضيف مهرجانات سنوية كبرى وإقامات فنية (سنتان إلى ثلاث سنوات – ٦٠,٠٠٠ يورو)

تُعد المرحلة الأولى حاسمة، فهي تضع الأساس المادي والرمزي لكل ما سيأتي بعدها، وعليه، اخترنا عمدًا إطلاق هذا المشروع من خلال تمويل مجتمعي قاعدي ومدعوم من الناس. هذه المساحة خُلِقت لتُدار من قِبَل من تخدمهم: تُبنى بالرعاية الجماعية، وتبقى حرة من أي أجندة. مساهمتكم في هذه المرحلة لا تدعم فقط عملية الترميم، بل تؤكد أن المساحات المخصصة للتعبير الإبداعي الحر والحياة الثقافية المشتركة ضرورية، وأنها تبدأ بالثقة، والالتزام، والملكية الجماعية.

الأرض التي نقف عليها

يَزخر جبل عامل بإرث ثقافي، سياسي، ونضالي عميق. لطالما كانت هذه الأرض مشبعة بالمقاومة، والإبداع، والتنوع، وبيت الراوي هو امتداد حي لهذا الإرث المستمر. ندرك عمق وقيمة تاريخنا، ونسعى إلى تكريم التضحيات التي قدمتها الأجيال قبلنا ومعنا، عبر فعل الإبداع الحي والمتجدد، وعبر تخيّل مستقبل عادل ومتحرّر.

الفن في هذا السياق ليس ترفًا، لكنّ الوسيلة الأصدق والأقوى لدينا لسرد رواياتنا. فالفن يسمح لنا بالتعبير عن مشاعر وتجارب لا يمكن وصفها بالكلمات وحدها. وفقط من خلال احتضان تنوعنا الاجتماعي والسياسي والثقافي، يمكننا رواية القصص الكثيرة التي تجعل هذه الأرض أرضنا، والتي تجعل من كل نقطة دم وعرق روت هذا التراب أكثر حضورًا في تشكيل ذواتنا المستقبلية.

لذلك، فإن هذه المساحة تكرّم قصص جبل عامل المتعددة، وتفتح المجال لكل صوت، وكل ذاكرة، وكل تعبير يعمّق فهمنا لذاتنا الجمعية.

صحيح أن تجاربنا متنوّعة وأحيانًا متناقضة، لكنها خيوط في نسيج حاضر مشترك. تاريخ هذه المنطقة ملك لجميع أهلها.

ومن هذا المنطلق، فإن توقيت المشروع ليس صدفة، بل قرارًا. ففي وجه التهديدات المستمرة، والتقسيم، وفرض الصمت، تصبح الثقافة والفن أدوات للمقاومة. هي كيف نتذكّر، كيف نتخيّل، وكيف نقاوم معًا.

ندعوكم لتكونوا جزءًا من هذه الانطلاقة، قبل أن ترسّخ هذه المشاريع وتحدد ملامحهها خارج أرضنا ومجتمعنا.
