Village Christmas Tree
For many years, our village has been fortunate to receive the generous gift of a Christmas Tree from Hackings Caravan Park, kindly donated from their forest. Their trees have brought joy to countless villagers and visitors alike — lighting up our village on the darkest winter days and creating a wonderful festive spirit. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and continued generosity over so many years.
Unfortunately, this year Hackings have let us know that there are no longer any suitable trees available on their estate. As a result, this year’s tree will be a little different. The cost of purchasing and installing a large real tree, which would only be in place for around four weeks, would be in the region of £800–£1,000 — a cost the committee feels is not sustainable.
Instead, we’ve chosen a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative — a light tree. Standing around six metres tall, this stunning display will be created by hoisting lights onto a temporary flagpole. The total cost is approximately £600.
We’re delighted to share that the Parish Council has made a generous contribution towards this, and we’d like to extend our sincere thanks for their ongoing support.
Santa will still be visiting the village in his sleigh on Friday 27th November and will also be joining the Sabden Christmas Market, spreading festive cheer as always!
