Our son, Alfie, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia when he was just 3 years old.
Despite 765 days of gruelling chemotherapy and invasive treatment, including multiple infections, hospital admissions, anaesthetics, lumber punctures and life-saving blood transfusions, Alfie is one of the lucky ones. His treatment has worked and a long, healthy life stretches before him.
Tragically, that is not the case for all children with cancer.
We are raising money to say THANK YOU to some of the charities who have helped us during this terrible time, many of which were started by bereaved parents, and to support them in continuing their fantastic work.
The Holland's Mighty Fundraiser is raising money for:
• Young Lives versus Cancer - https://www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/
• The Thomas Ball Cancer Fund - https://www.thomasball.org.uk/
• Doing it for Daniel - https://doingitfordaniel.org.uk/
• Give Kids The World - https://www.gktw.org/ (we will use £900 to make a mandatory donation to this charity for Alfie to be eligible for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Disney World with this charity)
You can help by sponsoring us. To mark the 765 days of Alfie's treatment...
- Alfie will be scoring an epic 765 goals in his garden goals at home throughout December! Ronaldo, eat your heart out.
- Madeleine's little legs will be walking 7.65km across the Chiltern Hills on Saturday 29 November. Sponsor Maddy, or better yet, get sponsored yourself and join us on the walk!
- Charlotte will be swimming 7.65km across 5 days - help!
- Look out for Sam who will be donning a crazy DINO outfit for a weeks worth of silly school drop offs!
On the 8th of November 2025, 765 days since he was first diagnosed, Alfie will have his final dose of chemotherapy and finally be clear of cancer. We are extremely grateful for all of the love and support we have received as a family since Alfie's diagnosis. We are overwhelmingly proud of Alfie, for his unbelievable courage and resilience, and Madeleine, for kindness and patience beyond her years.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our son’s story, and we hope you will consider supporting us in raising as much money as possible for these fantastic organisations.
