We are thrilled to share that we are on the journey of International Special Needs Adoption. We are working extremely hard to bring home our sweet boy with Down Syndrome from an orphanage in Eastern Europe. As you may know, the costs of international adoptions are very expensive. From start to finish, it will be $30, 000 to bring our son home from his orphanage. In efforts to help cover the daunting costs associated with Adoption, we have started a crowdfunding campaign. Your donation will help to cover the costs of our home study fee, international agency fee, facilitator fees (a team who reviews and translates our documents, assist while in Country, and works as our legal representation in court while in Country), court costs, orphanage adoption fees, and travel costs. Please know that we are not just looking for handouts, we are also working hard to help cover the costs in other ways including fundraisers, budgeting, and grant applications. We hope to raise the additional $20, 000 through our fundraising efforts. 

The country that our son is currently in does not see value or worth in his life due to his special needs. With that being said, he is not receiving proper nutrients, medical treatment, or care. Our son spends his days in a crib with little human contact, no education, and no one to tell him they love him. It is crucial for his well-being that we get to him in a timely manner. We are working as fast as we can and should be able to travel to meet our son early this Winter. However, if we do not have the funds, we will have to delay the process which would not only be heartbreaking but could be detrimental to his health. 

They say 'it takes a village' and that has shown to be so incredibly true in our journey. We are forever grateful for any and all support that you can provide whether it is donating, sharing our story, or praying for our little man.

Robert and Kelly Hickey are High School sweethearts who started dating at age 16 and have been inseparable ever since! They spent 8 years together prior to their marriage supporting one another as they developed their careers and built a home together. Robert is a hardworking, family man who works as a mechanic, lays concrete, and plows. He also spends much of his time working on their new home in which they will build their family in. Kelly is a passionate special educator who went on to pursue Behavior Analysis and spends her days working hard to advocate for those with disabilities. Although Kelly has her dream job, she knows her true purpose in life is Motherhood. While Robert and Kelly are still newly married, they have been highly anticipating the start of their new family. Since early on in their relationship, the couple had discussed growing their family through adoption, however, they didn’t know when would be the right time. The couple had decided they would start by pursuing foster care but one night as they were preparing to send the application, they had an overwhelming feeling that God was leading them to a specific adoption. Not long after, Kelly came across a photo of a beautiful little boy, and instantly knew that he was the one waiting for them. The couple is now working tirelessly to bring their son home from an orphanage to the love and family that he deserves.

The Hickeys, along with their families and friends, are beyond excited to bring their son home! The adoption process can be long and difficult but with everyone’s support they know God will make this possible for their growing family. Robert and Kelly are incredibly appreciative of any financial, emotional, or spiritual support that you can provide.
