The Hackney Half Fundraiser For Hackney Foodbank

Living standards in the UK took a major hit in 2022, driven by high and rising inflation - the fastest rate for 30 years. Given that low income households spend over three times the proportion of their total expenditure on energy bills as households with high income, the outlook is concerning for individuals and families on low or fixed income in Hackney. 

As a result of the cost-of-living crisis, we are seeing a continued increase in the demand on our services and anticipate this will be happening over the course of the next 6-12 months as more people in Hackney will need to choose between heating their homes or providing food for their families.

Our mission is to support people who are in crisis or trapped in poverty, with compassion and dignity. We do this by providing emergency food parcels, which offer practical, immediate relief in moments of crisis, and by connecting people with local organisations who can help them to address the root causes and wider effects of poverty in their lives.

We want to ensure that the struggle that many people in our community have faced since the pandemic and will still face will not be forgotten.

That's why our amazing runners of volunteers, staff and corporate partners - Lucy,

Matt, Johan, Kevin, Michael, Dave, Jem, Paul, Gregory, Maya, Kathryn, Anna, Dennis, and Richard have signed up for this year's Hackney Half Marathon which is taking place on Sunday 21 May 2023 to raise money in aid of Hackney Foodbank! Come and cheer our team along the route here. Our team will be wearing green Hackney Foodbank T-shirts so keep a look out for them along the route if you can.

Hackney Foodbank's team of supporters will meet outside The Hawke pub on 235 Victoria Park Rd, E9 7HD on mile 10 of the race at 10.30. Come join us!
