The Grind house skate park
We are raising money for the first professional level action sports facility in North Devon.
The park will become a community hub, creating job opportunities and activities for more than just the local skate scene. What we have in mind is going to be a huge project, so we're teaming up with like minded individuals across the region to collaboratively succeed.
We have a thriving and widespread community in North Devon, the summers are long and usually pretty dry. The local area is dotted with some great outdoor parks that are a buzz of activity. Come the autumn and winter, the area gets battered by heavy Atlantic storms and what would seem recently, as a never ending torrent of rain
Frankly we lack the all weather facilities that we feel the scene needs to grow. Skills and progression gained during the summer are often lost during these 'dark ages'.
Come the winter, the closest suitable facility is a 200 mile round trip for us and around another 1000 skaters across the region.
This makes it hard to pursue or progress our passions through out almost half of the year. meaning most get a handful of sessions in before the spring.
We hope to exclusively support and promote skateboarding, the Grind house will be a safe heaven for skateboarders.
We obviously want to include other action sports as well but we feel we lack the knowledge and experience to really understand their needs, and would love to hear from any one with any ideas.
We have founded an online skate shop and brand to also help us raise funds towards this goal and to support the local scene further. The business is structured as a social enterprise, we are taking 51% of our net profit and re investing it into locally ran skate projects, and eventually the skate park.
Eventually we hope to be in a position to support a full time staff, skate team and creative individuals such as photographers, videographers and graphic designers.

Uniquely to the UK market, 10% of our sales are going directly towards this goal. our hope is that in supporting our local scene, the scene will support us.
We promote independent skater owned brands to help keep the industry in the hands of skateboarders.
The money raised here will help to put all of this into motion.
The £50k will allow us to build and rent a space large enough to start off, we will build a flexible and adaptable space skate park , a retail space for the skate shop and an attached eatery and coffee shop to boot.
This initial platform will allow us to earn a upgraded and larger space as our community grows with us.
