The Grief Trail Project

n 2021, Iris and Sara led the first Grief Trail Project fundraising hike in the Peak District. Iris and Sara first met while hiking up Mount Snowdon in 2013. Iris lost her long term partner of 8 years in a road crash, and Sara lost her 13 month old daughter.

The Grief Trail Project aims to bring together individuals and families who have been affected or been bereaved by a road crash. By being together outdoors, and meeting others who have shared a similar experience, a sense of community and unspoken connection and understanding is created.

On Sunday September 18, 2022, our hike will take place in Snowdonia National Park. The hike is 10.5 miles (17km).

The guided hike will be led by Iris and her friend Kasia, both of whom are trained and qualified Mountain Leaders.

In 2021, the event raised over £4000 for both Brake and RoadPeace. This year, our goal is £5000. The money raised will be shared equally with both charities.

This year, we will be hiking in loving memory of;

Frankie-Kates, aged 13 months
Ethan Alexander Penrose, aged 6
Caitlin Lydia Huddleston, aged 18
Harry Abbey, aged 19
Josh Booth, aged 22
Lee James Ferguson, aged 26
Lidia Zoetemelk, aged 41
Tony Dhrif, aged 70
