Help us to save the wildlife of The Gambia

Donation protected
In the last months, whilst working full time as veterinary nurses, we have been busy behind the scenes starting our new wildlife charity (booooy, we don’t like an easy life).

We believe our name, in local Fula language says it all: Dandeng Kulledeng - ‘Lets protect all animals’, we have a clear vision in our heads and hearts, of how we can really make a difference.

We have hit the ground running: we are registered as a charity foundation in The Gambia, and have signed an MoU with The Department of Parks and Wildlife Management (DPWM) to start making positive changes, mostly for displaced wildlife in their care, but also the entirety of the countries wildlife and protected areas – which are disappearing at an alarming rate.

NOW WE NEED YOU TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM GOING

Your support could mean a second chance for a vulnerable monkey, a rehabilitated bird returning to the skies, or a restored habitat where animals can roam freely.

Let’s make this vision a reality together — one act of kindness at a time.

WHY GAMBIA?

The Gambia is home to stunning biodiversity, including unique species like the swift and intelligent patas monkey, the critically endangered temminck's red colobus monkey, hyena (which are now mostly captive), the tourists’ favourite bush babies, plus a river which acts as an essential breeding ground for both hippos and the critically endangered west african manatees.

Yet these animals face severe challenges. Threats including habitat loss, poaching, the illegal wildlife trade and environmental degradation continue to endanger all of these species.

Without action, many are at risk of disappearing forever.

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is simple but powerful: to protect and preserve the wildlife of The Gambia and to restore the natural landscapes they depend on.

We believe that every life is worth saving, and our focus is on creating a safe haven for all wildlife, whilst supporting the communities living alongside them.

We already have a combined 7 years of experience in The Gambia, including successful rescue and rehabilitation of several species of wildlife – the one that has had the biggest impact for us; rehabilitating and releasing three patas monkeys back to the wild, and continuing to see them thrive.

OUR VISION:

There is a key phrase we believe sums up our vision perfectly:
‘FOBKO GOTO – it is all the same’

Together, We Can Make a Difference

First project to fundraise for: Abuko Nature Reserve Renovations

- Large and improved hyena bush enclosure: to include all aspects of bush enclosure construction including dens, pools, enrichment and high security fencing.

- The then empty hyena enclosures at Abuko to be transformed in to better equipped primate enclosures to allow for smaller troops, isolation, orphans and separation of species

- A primate bush enclosure for pre release rehabilitation

- Better enclosures for long term residents that are unsuitable for release to the wild (eg illness, mental capacity, human bond)

- Renovating the volunteer housing at Abuko

- Veterinary supplies and further nutritional supplements

- Vaccinating staff on the ground against rabies and tetanus

Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to a safe and thriving environment for The Gambia’s wildlife.

Please join us in creating a bright and sustainable future for The Gambia’s wildlife, and the communities living alongside them.
