The Fund for DTLA

Donation protected
I've lived in DTLA for 10+ years. The people who live here do so out of a collective hope that downtown will continue to grow into its big feet and become the city center that a city as vibrant as Los Angeles deserves.

Our neighbors have joined the protests and stood alongside those that demand justice and demand change. MLK said "a riot is the language of the unheard," and we see the rightful rage that people have over the continued abuse of Black bodies at the hands of police. We should all be enraged.

Unfortunately, our growing DTLA community has experienced significant property damage, all of which is replaceable. The lives of those lost like George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and HUNDREDS more are not. The property damage comes after a trying 3 months of little to no revenue for small businesses in DTLA, who have been hobbling along during COVID19 closures. Many of them are minority owned, Black owned, dreamer owned. They all create the social and cultural fabric of our little community-- a community that we share with people who come to DTLA to work, visit, and play.

We're raising money to help these businesses survive by supporting payments towards their insurance deductibles (if they are even insured) or the property damage (whichever is lower) in order to get them operational as soon as possible. We will ONLY be donating funds to verified small businesses by SBA standards and will verify their costs.

List of DTLA Small Businesses (that we know of) in need.

We also encourage you to donate to Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, because Black Lives Matter in #DTLA, Minneapolis, New York, Atlanta, and everywhere in the US.

Together we will not go back to normal, we will create a new normal.
