Hi, The Friends of Spark Green Park is a group of volunteers who look after Spark Green Park on Brunswick Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, B12 8EH.
The Friends of Spark Green Park was established in 2023 to increase the use of our community green space, to increase biodiversity (the variety of plants, animals, birds, insects etc.) and to help to create an attractive green space for our local community to enjoy.
There is a small team of volunteers who litter pick regularly, prune and plant trees and maintain the park and playground.
The volunteers have been developing and extending sections of the park where we have planted several fruit and nut trees to form an orchard.
Throughout the year, we aim to host events in Spark Green Park Park to create opportunities for the community to come together, to enjoy the park and meet neighbours and friends there.
The Friends of Spark Green Park is not a charity, while a couple of committee members kindly apply for financial grants and liaise with the National Trust, Woodlands Trust, Birmingham Open Spaces Forum and Birmingham City Council to help fund events. We rely very heavily on donations from the public to achieve what we do.
Please know that we celebrate every penny we receive and use your donations to build on what we offer year on year.
Our current financial needs are for:
- litter picking equipment (gloves and hoops primarily)
- park maintenance equipment (dog mess spray is top of our list!)
- new benches
