The Fox and Hounds COVID-19 Community Appeal
Greetings from The Fox and Hounds in Christmas Common!
We are a small village pub located in the heart of the Chilterns. The pub is at the centre of a lovely community and unfortunately due to the current COVID-19 pandemic we are unable to remain open to cater for this community and the wider public.
Built in the 18th century the pub came to be with one purpose, to provide a warm and welcoming place for people to stop in and spend time together, and it is because of the coronavirus that we are currently unable to uphold this commitment.
These are extremely testing times for us, and in order for us to keep the pub thriving we are in need of your support. We hope that you donate to this page and show your support in this difficult period!
Our goal
The pub still has many costs to deal with, and with no income to pay them they are quickly becoming a heavy burden.
The goal for this appeal is to ensue that we are able to fund the pub's costs and keep the high standard we strive for once the national lockdown is revoked.

Your support in this appeal will help to keep a country pub open, a place adored by so many in both the local and wider community.
The pub industry is already facing many difficulties, with a high rate of pubs closing all over the UK. We strongly believe that the 'pub culture' is deeply embedded in the British culture itself, and the loss of small village pubs across the country would be at the detriment of the entire British society, to see more pubs suffer would be a tragic shame. Our pub has been operating for over 300 years, purveying drinks to generations in our small community. We hope that by supporting us we are able to continue this work far into the future.
Your money will go directly towards;
Paying our staff, who still have outstanding wages and need their money to get through the next few months. With uncertainty around the government's wage compensation scheme, we feel it is necessary to ensure our staff can be paid as soon as possible.
Donation Rewards
As an incentive for your support we are offering 50% vouchers on any donation made, redeemable when we reopen later this year. For example, if you donate £20 you will receive a £10 voucher, if you donate £40 you will receive £20, etc. All vouchers can be redeemed on food and drinks in the pub.
I, Reiner Hecken, have been landlord of The Fox and Hounds for the past 4 years. I, along with many others, have a developed a strong emotional attachment to the pub and the community it serves. My staff, the locals in our community and my family all feel a similar attachment to the pub. We would all be devastated to see the pub suffer, and we hope that your support can help us suppress the inevitable problems we will face in the coming months.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and rest assured the funds will be reinvested into the community.
