To all those who know and love Forks of Salmon (California) and the Forks of Salmon Community Club (FSCC, aka, the Old School): the FSCC operates as a nonprofit and currently has no regular sources of income. They maintain the historic building that serves as the hub and heart of the community through the love, dedication, blood, sweat, tears, and financial donations of anyone willing to help. They occasionally hold fundraiser events—which in and of themselves are wonderful community celebrations—but we know there are many who think of the Salmon River as home even if they aren't able to get back there or attend the fundraiser events.
If you've ever been to the Old School for a school play, recital, talent show, harvest bazaar, spring bazaar, dance party, graduation, funeral, 4th of July, New Year's Eve, Halloween, community meeting, fundraiser, parade or fire meeting—this GoFundMe is for you...a way to make a small (or large) contribution to support and sustain the community and the Old School building that holds all those memories, and patiently awaits all the future memories to come.
This year’s insurance bill ($1,844) for the building and parking area has been paid through a few generous donations, but time flies and the next bill will be here before we know it…and then there are all the other necessary maintenance and repairs, as listed here:
$3,000? - Paint and supplies for exterior repair and repainting.
$500 – Cement and supplies to install the ADA-compliant wheelchair ramp recently purchased (they have a mixer on the river but will need volunteers this summer).
In addition to the priorities list above, there are maintenance projects for the Old School that would make it easier to manage and more enjoyable to use:
$50 - toilet plumbing repairs
$50 - waterproof tarp to help control/contain the bat guano in the attic
$500+ - window casing/frame repair to complete the window replacement job
Your assistance and generosity will go a long ways in this frugal community of get-er-done people! Any funds donated will be used only for the purchase of required services such as insurance; supplies & materials that cannot be obtained through donations; or services & wages for expertise that they cannot otherwise obtain for free.
Forks of Salmon Community Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. FEIN ID # 80-0025401
The FSCC has a bank account but does not have an email address or account linked to GoFundMe, so I (Cassandra Hensher) will be collecting all the donations and giving them to the FSCC Board of Directors. I have no formal or official affiliation with the FSCC…I just saw an opportunity to assist in fundraising and jumped on it. :)
