The fire that broke all our hearts.

- Hi,my name is Maria Archuleta Jones. I am a neighbor of Alex and Stephanie Hoffman/ Valverde. On Wednesday I received a knock on my door at 8:58am some type of sheriff or officer we as asking if I know who lived in the green house on the block. I couldn't think and within seconds, I realized my good friends house was on fire. I called her. I was in a panic and she said the dogs. I dressed and ran very fast screaming there are dogs in there. This house isn't a normal house this is a house that everybody gathered at for so many occasions. At any given time there are children there. Not just Alex's and Stephanie's children but any child that needed somewhere to be or wants to play was there at any given time. Including my own. And on many occasions I walked down there to have a beer myself with my friends. Stephanie and Alex have a very giving spirit and have no problem with helping someone out or taking in a child. It was one of the most excruciating and painful things I've watched. The fire department found the dogs they pulled all three dogs out without being able to resuscitate them. The dogs were lost. With an 8 minutes the house was completely consumed with fire and smoke. Alex and Stephanie's house is no longer inhabitable. So I'm asking everybody if they could find it in their heart to pull together and donate even if it's just $5 because, Alex and Stephanie on Wednesday night didn't even have a toothbrush. Stephanie and Alex have two children's Jeremiah and Pickles AKA Clayton! A beautiful family but Alex and Stephanie also open their doors to Maylee and Jasper. Maylee and Jasper are 17. Alex and Stephanie also took in Perseus. Perseus is 6 years old. Stephanie and Alex open their home to give Perseus a beautiful young girl a safe home with stability. As you see they are very giving and humble people. So please if you find it in your heart to give a small monetary gift and if you're unable to do that to please put up a prayer or some really good vibes for these wonderful people during this hard time. They lost everything material. But the most devastating was we lost the fur babies. Georgie, Willow and Daisy. May they rest in peace. The funds will be used for day-to-day things such as socks and underwear or anything else they may need that are no longer there. One of the expenses they've had to incur because of the fire was to cremate the dogs. I can only imagine how many other little expenses are going to come along. I know how wonderful Grand County community. Want to thank you all advance for your generosity and you're giving kind and loving spirits.
