The Fight for Jax

On Saturday May 1st we went in for a scheduled induction. Around 10 am the doctor came in to break the mother’s water when the umbilical cord collapsed and came out of the mother which kinked the life line. The doctor told us that Jax was no longer getting blood or oxygen to his brain and they needed to do an emergency c-section. Jax was born at 10:24 am stillborn and lifeless. After the doctors resuscitated Jax twice the Doctors had to insert a breathing tube and suck out blood and amniotic fluid from his lungs  and keep him on a suction line to continue to pull the fluid out of his lungs. Once the machines had him stable the doctors ordered for him to be cooled to stop inflammation to the brain and to slow blood flow to the brain to prevent more damage. The process is a 72 hour cooling process which ended May 4th at 4:15 pm. At that time they started the warming process which continued till 11:30 pm at which time the doctors evaluated him and found he had no seizures. The next update was on May 5th at 7 am they had informed us that he had stopped  breathing 3 different times over the night and had Apnea which means he couldn’t not breathe on his own so they are continuing him on the respirator. They are doing an emergency MRI on the morning of May 6th  instead of waiting for the 10th day of life like the process calls for.  To find out what brain damage there is and why he is not breathing on his own.  We will continue to add Jax’s conditions and updates as we are informed.

We the parents of Jax Brently are asking for help for unexpected expenses. Since he was transported on May 1st to Joe DiMaggio Children’s hospital in the nicu ward in Hollywood it is not close to home. We want to stay close to Jax and have accumulated a lot of extra expenses and as the father is self employed and is unable to provide while he is taking care of the mother who is recovering from an emergency c section and can not walk or care for our one year old. He is trying to transport the mother to and from the hospital to see our son and take care of a one year old that is not allowed in the hospital.  John has been staying in a hotel room since May 1st to be close to his son in case anything happens. The doctors are not sure when we will be able to take Jax home or if we will be able to take Jax home but we do know it will not be till May 15th at the earliest as possible. Any thing that you are able to donate would be greatly appreciated. We will keep this page updated as soon as we find out more information. We would love to talk to all of you on a one to one basis however Jax has a lot of great people that really love and care for him. So we can be with Jax and talk with the doctors please try to understand if we do not respond to all of your calls and texts.  We really appreciate the support and prayers.
